Description
A house entry. Written by the people who run Promptea, published here so the catalogue has something to show and so the required fields have a worked example.
Summarising a thread is easy and useless. What a team needs a week later is not the discussion, it is the ruling: what was decided, by whom, and what was left hanging. This prompt separates the two and refuses to blur them.
The prompt
Read the thread below. Produce a decision log, not a summary.
Output exactly three sections.
DECIDED
One line per decision actually taken. Format:
" | decided by | "
A decision counts only if someone stated it as settled and
nobody contradicted it afterwards in the thread.
OPEN
One line per question raised and never answered.
Include who raised it. Do not invent an owner.
ASSUMED
Anything the thread treats as true without ever deciding it.
This section is usually the interesting one.
Rules:
- Quote nothing longer than eight words.
- If a decision was reversed later, log the final state only,
and add "(reversed earlier position)".
- If a section is empty, write "none" rather than padding it.
Limits
It cannot see decisions taken in a meeting and only referenced in the thread, and it will file those under ASSUMED, which is the correct place for them but often surprises people. Licence: CC BY 4.0, credit the site if you republish it.
Reviews
Nobody has poured a cup on this one yet. If you have run it, say how it went.
